What to do the morning of the ACT or SAT

It’s the morning of the big test day and you have your stack of items ready to take with you…what should you do to maximize your success before you arrive?

Here are our top 5 tips for what to do the morning of the big test.

tip 1: Dress comfortably

Plan ahead with layers in case you get cold or hot. You don’t want temperature to get in the way of doing your best.

tip 2: Eat a filling, nutritious breakfast

Don’t have an abnormally small or large breakfast. Remember routine will help you feel calm and comfortable. Don’t try anything for the first time on test day – that includes coffee.

tip 3: Engage your brain

While you’re having breakfast, read something to wake up your brain. I don’t mean reading friends’ Instagram posts. Put the phone away and pick up something tangible. Whether it’s a book, a short story, a poem, a magazine, or newspaper, it doesn’t matter, just read it.

tip 4: Arrive early

Build out a buffer for traffic or testing site room adjustments. You can never be too sure of what can happen the morning of the test.

tip 5: Leave your phone behind

This tip is of paramount importance. You should never be on your cell phone before or during the ACT or SAT. Yes, you might feel the urge to check back in with your social life during the break, but leave your phone in your car or at home. You don’t want proctors to cancel your exam if they see you on your phone during a break and think you’re cheating.

What else can you learn?
